Feeling tickled by this story on Yahoo about the Germans opening up a museum dedicated to the currywurst. The nation’s most popular street food, it comprises a fairly box standard sausage smothered in ketchup mixed with curry powder. It’s sloppy, as subtle as a baseball bat to the kidneys and curiously addictive. Along with fantastic shawarma from the Turkish-run street kiosks, I scoffed a lot of currywurst while on a flying visit to Berlin last year.

I was surprised how much I liked them because I’m not a big fan of ketchup and, rather than use curry powder, I’m la-di-da enough to grind up my own spices if I’m boiling up a bhuna. However, put those two unlikely ingredients together and it’s junk food heaven.

My personal favourite mix of oddball flavours features hummus and pitta with dried sausage and pickled chillies. It sounds revolting but I love it. What bizarre flavour combos float your boat?
