This just in: Gandolfi Fish is now fully booked this evening!  Commiserations if you were hoping to go along, but there are loads of other Gourmet Glasgow events so I’m sure there’s something else that will take your fancy!

As our own Jonathan was reminded in cook school last week sometimes writing about food is a lot easier than preparing it.  This week Ron Mackenna is going to find out what it takes to run the front of house in one of the Merchant City’s top restaurants, Gandolfi Fish.

He’ll be hosting the restaurant’s Food and Wine Pairing Evening tomorrow (Tuesday 11th August), as well as meeting and greeting diners, taking orders and controlling the kitchen.  The event is part of this year’s Gourmet Glasgow festival and is the second charity Critics’ Challenge event (Tam Cowan running Grill on the Corner was the first) and all proceeds will go to Ron’s chosen charity of the RLNI.

I spoke to Ron earlier today and he’s looking forward to it and confident it will be a great evening and loads of fun.  If you want to see how he gets on (as well as get a good feed), you can book online through 5pm.  The restaurant will be running their a la carte menu, or their Food and Wine Pairing menu is a bargain £20 per person for 6 small dishes with 5 wines and 1 whisky.
