If ever you needed proof that London’s restaurant economy operates on another planet then take a look at this report on the Big Hospitality website.

Bob Bob Ricard restaurant, which opened earlier this year, has capped the mark-up on its wine to £50 a bottle. Apparently, this means that a bottle of Chateau Haut Brion 1er Cru Classe, Graves, 1985 will cost £318 at Bob Bob Ricard. At that price, it is still hardly an impulse buy but it is £682 cheaper than glugging the same bottle at Gordon Ramsay at Claridges.
