The Rutland's Milk Choc Tart says, 'Eat me'
The Rutland's Milk Choc Tart says, 'Eat me'

While National Moth Night and Bramley Apple Week might not have attracted too many headlines, National Chocolate Week, which begins today, is a different story.

There is a long list of choc-themed events here but we thought we would draw your attention to a couple which are hosted by 5pm members.

At The Rutland, head chef David Haetzman and his team are serving an extravagant taster menu consisting entirely of desserts on Wednesday.

A one off affair, guests will receive canapés on arrival, followed by four individual chocolate courses, served in main course sized portions for two to share. All desserts are made using fair-trade Divine chocolate and will be matched with suitable drinks including frozen whisky, champagne, red wine and dessert wine.

Each guest will also receive a goody bag including recipes for Chocoholics, a voucher for a specially created Divine Chocolate cocktail as well as a dining voucher for the restaurant. The cost is £20 a head.

Around the corner at The Exchange in the Sheraton (also home to Santini), there is a £16.95 Chocolate Afternoon Tea running all month. Slightly unusually, the menu comprises sweet and savoury dishes so you might choose to follow a mini chocolate crème brûlée with a roast beef and horseradish sandwich made with a chocolate and garlic brioche.
