Jack believes in plain speaking

A couple of weeks back, we posted about Illegal Jack’s, a new South West Grill which was taking shape on Edinburgh’s Lothian Road. It is now up and running.

Unusually for a restaurant, Jack’s joint has its origins in sport. The people behind it are keen long distance runners. During running trips in the States, they had celebrated their athletic endeavours by tucking into juicy burritos. Back home in Scotland, they would be looking to refuel after finishing a 20 miler but were frustrated with the grub on offer in the High Street. Following on from two years of research, Illegal Jack’s is their attempt to recreate a little piece of Colorado in Edinburgh.

Tacos, quesadillas and, of course, burritos are the mainstay of the menu along with bowls of chillis, fajitas and spicy chicken wings. With the exception of meats which are marinaded overnight, all the food is prepped fresh each day on the premises.
