Just returned from a long weekend in the West Midlands. On the drive back, I was cheered by an ad on a truck which was urging us all to eat more mushy pea fritters. It’s good to see that Scotland is not alone in championing foods that other parts of the UK might regard as punchlines to regional culinary jokes.
