Cafe Mediterraneo is a chirpy new addition to both 5pm and Glasgow’s West End. The Byres Road cafe and bistro goes big on Italian, Turkish and Greek dishes.

This makes for some interesting choices, particularly on the breakfast menu. We all know what goes into a full Scottish but what ingredients make up a full Turkish breakfast. Well, according to Cafe Med, those with the morning munchies would be tucking into humus, tzatziki, tabbouleh, spicy bean salad, mixed olives, hellim cheese, spicy sausage, melon and feta cheese salad, ciabatta, coucous and stuffed vine leaves.

That little lot would certainly set you up for the day although you might not fancy a post-brekkie jog.

While pride of place goes to the meze or mixed starters, speciality teas, home made bruschetta and keenly priced main courses such as the tuna salad are among the other attractions.

As well as a ground floor that sits fifteen and a mezzanine that can accommodate twenty, there are usually a couple of tables and chairs on the pavement outside just in case the autumn sun makes an appearance.
