Bourbon and bacon: a match made in heaven?
Bourbon and bacon: a match made in heaven?

This blog has never fought shy of tackling the big issues of the news agenda and we are at our most fearless when it comes to bacon-related questions.

Over numerous blogs, we have considered bacon salt, bacon-flavoured vodka and even taken a look at assault rifles made from bacon products. Pretty much all of our bacon fixation has been fuelled by news from our American cousins and this blog entry is no different.

This article on the National Public Radio site has several recipes which use bacon in desserts and also has a handy sidebar on some guidelines to consider when baking with bacon. Apparently one should draw the line at turkey bacon cupcakes.

If that sounds kerrazy, then take a look at the cocktail list of this recently opened Aberdeen bar. Fancy a Bacon Old Fashioned? It’s made with bacon-infused bourbon and maple syrup and is believed to have started life in New York’s Please Don’t Tell secret bar. There’s a clip here if you want to make your own.
