Mattia Camorani takes a break from the Christmas rush

More Crimbo specials. This time from the newish Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh. Head chef Mattia Camorani has been going through his recipe cards and come out with a selection of menus that offer a change from our old friend turkey.

Missoni’s Christmas party menu boasts starters such as the pan fried mackerel with rocket and fennel salad and a saffron dressing. You can have slow cooked turkey if you want or you could walk on the wild side and choose the gnocchi with robiola cheese and baby vegetables.

The five course Christmas Day menu sticks to the Italian recipes and looks pretty inviting but it was the Hogmanay blow-out that really caught the eye. Say ‘Ciao Bella’ to a menu that includes linguini with lobster, chilli and garlic; warm polenta with soft cheese and black truffle and a choice of main courses that includes Buccleuch heritage beef fillet with wild mushroom and port wine sauce.
