It has been a busy year on the Aberdonian restaurant scene with newcomers like the 210 Bistro joining slightly more established restasurants such as Fusion, The Bothy, Tiger Tiger and Prime Cuts as well as veterans such as La Bamba which have been happily beavering away for years.

The latest to join the throng is the Paula McEwen Restaurant at the Great Western Hotel. The eponymous Paula has notched up stints working in Aberdeen’s Marcliffe as well as The Witchery and Number One at the Balmoral in Edinburgh. This is her first solo venture.

Paula and her team will be taking care of the food in the lounge and the sports bar where a grill menu, pastas and baked spuds will be available. More complex options are on offer in the fine dining restaurant where the menu might include a starter of guinea fowl and baby leek roulade with a caper noisette followed by a main course of seared scallops, red endive and oxtail ravioli with cumin foam.
