We told you a couple of weeks back that the Queen of Sheba, a new Ethiopian restaurant, was opening on Glasgow’s St George’s Road but I couldn’t dig up any more info. Fortunately, The Herald’s Ron MacKenna has been there and done that and reviewed the place here. It doesn’t sound as though he had the best meal of his life by any measure but gallantly points out that it’s very early days for the Queen of Sheba’s kitchen.

Gandolfi Fish: part of the MacInnes empire

Also in The Herald is a good article with Seumas MacInnes, the driving force behind one of Glasgow’s landmark restaurants, Cafe Gandolfi. It’s a great piece if you want to look back and see just how far the city’s bar and restaurant culture has travelled in a comparatively short time. Gandolfi Fish is a 5pm member if you would like to try the Hebridean seafood that Seumas is so proud of.
