Chris Broomfield, Charan Gill and Des Clarke get the giggles at Slumdog

Restaurateurs are always looking for new ways to put bums on seats and Charan Gill, owner of the Slumdog Bar and Kitchen, is no different. At his new restaurant on Sauchiehall Street, he has already tried to reinvent the dinner dance with his Slumdog Soiree concept in which Bollywood, bhangra and a plateful of bhuna all get down on the dance floor.

His latest idea is to combine curry and comedy. Every Thursday night at Slumdog, a quartet of funny guys and girls will be dealing out the gags once the waiting staff have dished out the dhansak. Des Clarke, Keir McAllister, Scott Agnew and host Chris Broomfield are the first bunch of comics who will try to to split the bulging sides of diners. Charan Gill is seldom shy of the spotlight and has even been known to take the occasional slot at a stand-up club so don’t be surprised if the one time Secret Millionaire starts firing out the funnies.

This is the ideal blog post in which to crack terrible curry puns but I’m absolutely rubbish at them. Instead, take a gander at this list from the London Curry site. I nicked the headline from them but I do like the idea of a Madness song called Bhaji Trousers.
