Let me entertain you: the Sapporo Teppanyaki chefs

Sushi and family friendly are two terms which you don’t often see in the same sentence but if Glasgow’s Sapporo Teppanyaki restaurant have anything to do with it then that’s all going to change on Sunday afternoon.

The 5pm blog has covered Sapporo Teppanyaki a few times. It opened in the Merchant City last September and, for those of you who missed the earlier blogs, the idea behind the restaurant is rather fun. Customers sit at a bar around a couple of hotplates. A chef stands between the hotplates and, while cooking your food, he juggles with it, shoots flames into the air, imitates a machine gun with an egg and generally breaks all the rules about not playing with your food. I suspect that kids would love it although it might cause their parents to issue stern warnings about not trying it at home.

Anyway, at lunchtime on Sunday, Sapporo Teppanyaki is hosting a family fun day. There will be balloons and face-painting alongside demos of the teppanyaki style of cooking. The chefs will also be demonstrating how to make sushi rolls and giving some advice on how to use chopsticks.

Sapporo Teppanyaki will be offering parents a unique £9 for two courses or £12 for three courses offer including a complimentary glass of wine throughout the session. Accompanying children under 12yrs old will also eat for free from a select menu.
