][1]There is nothing like a chilli to bring out the macho instincts in a bloke. The days of going into a curry house and asking for the hottest thing on the menu may have passed but, for a significant proportion of men, testing their mettle still involves eating something that would strip paint.
Domino’s have cottoned on to this and introduced their hottest pizza yet. It’s called Meltdown – The Revenge, a name which makes it sound a little like an episode from a World Wrestling Entertainment series.
The Revenge packs five different types of heat in the form of chilli cheese slices, sweet chilli peppers, jalapeños, bird’s-eye chilli peppers and American style mustard and, apparently, Meltdown-The Revenge has the power to drive even the toughest pizza-eater to tears.
Word has it that the African bird’s-eye chilli is only three places behind law enforcement grade pepper spray on the Scolville heat scale. That’s a factoid which, to me anyway, doesn’t sound like the most ringing endorsement of a snack food but will probably make it a big hit in student residences up and down the country. The photo is fab though.
If your idea of the perfect pizza doesn’t involve eating something that will turn you red and sweaty then you know what to do. 5pm has dozens of Italian restaurant members and many of them were perfecting pizza when Domino’s funders were still in nappies.
