Tommy was sensitive to criticism of his cooking

As anyone who has seen Scorsese’s Goodfellas will know, then spaghetti and meatballs feature prominently on the wise guy menu.  Famously, Paul Sorvino plays the jailed gangland capo slicing garlic with a razorblade in order to prepare a cell block banquet. Mr Sorvino launched his own range of pasta sauces in the States earlier this month but, a little closer to home, Glasgow’s Sloans is muscling in on his racket.

Starting this Wednesday, Sloans is running a weekly EatFilm promo. The idea is that they will screen a classic movie matched with a themed dinner. The event kicks off with Goodfellas and a menu which includes spaghetti with gourmet Italian meatballs as well as canapés, a range of snacks and popcorn. Eating a plate of something red and meaty during the more gruesome scenes might be a challenge but hey, if you wanna be a made man then you better man up. The fun starts at 7pm and the vig is £14.95 a head which gets you the film, dinner and canapes. Don’t be late, capiche?

Other scheduled films include Pulp Fiction, Dirty Dancing and The Hangover. On Valentine’s Day, Sloans is screening Breakfast at Tiffany’s along with a three course meal and enough roses, chocolate and bubbles to make even the frostiest ice maiden crack a smile. The price for this is £29.95 a head.
