The Butcher's Shop Bar and Grill opens tonight

It’s all kicking off in Glasgow at the moment with lots of new openings on the horizon.

First up, it’s a big Hiya to Tasty Byte@Nyte which has just signed up to 5pm. The sarnie shop and cafe on Hope Street has started to run its bistro menu into the evenings. BYOB at £1 a head is not to be sniffed at in these cruel times.

The Wise Monkey Bar on Great Western Road is another newcomer which has been finding its feet over the last few weeks. Formerly Hubbards, it is now rocking out with live music seven days a week. We hear good things about their burgers.

Over on the Glasgow’s West End site, Roy Beers has caught a whiff of a possible new operation from Allan Mawn, the man behind the excellent Pintxo and its funky next door neighbour, Velvet Elvis. Watch this space for emerging details.

Today is also the launch date for the Butcher’s Shop Bar and Grill, a new place which has set up shop in the former Drawing Room at the west end of Sauchiehall Street.

Sticking in that area, Blas has become The Lock Inn but promises to resurface in the near future in an as yet undisclosed location.

Over in Edinburgh, Rice Terraces has just opened on St Leonard’s Street. If you have ever wondered what Filipino food tastes like then this is your chance to find out. Pass the Adobong Baboy would you? That’s belly pork cooked in vinegar, garlic and soy sauce, apparently.
