There will be plenty of choice at Paisley Beer Festival

The biggest real ale festival in Scotland gets under way at Paisley Town Hall on Wednesday, 28 April.

The 23rd Paisley Beer Festival is an annual, four day event and some 4000 people are expected to turn up and sample some of the 130 real cask conditioned ales on offer as well as a range of ciders and foreign beers.

Last year, thirsty festival goers sank some 20,000 pints of beer and local lad done good, Paolo Nutini, was among the beer fans.

The festival is run by the Renfrewshire branch of CAMRA. This year, they are raising money for the Myeloma UK charity. On Saturday, visitors will be encouraged to make like the staff and dress up as their favourite James Bond character.

You can do you own gags about asking for your beer served shaken but not stirred.

At the time of writing, the beer lists weren’t available but, as well as many Scottish beers, there will be an emphasis on beers from Yorkshire.

Live music and plenty of hearty grub will keep it all going with a swing.

Entry costs a fiver and the times are:

Wednesday – 5pm to 11pm

Thursday – Noon to 11pm

Friday – Noon to Midnight

Saturday – Noon to 9pm
