Yesterday the blog spoke to Cyan, a recently established bar restaurant which has taken over the premises formerly occupied by Primo in Milngavie.

It’s a relaxed sort of place with a massive wine list and plenty of cocktails to go along with a menu that majors in fork and finger food along with more substantial lamb rumps, burgers and so on.

One of the most innovative things they do is an occasional six course tasting menu for £12.

What a brilliant idea. Normally, tasting menus are the stage on which top notch chefs get to pirouette and twirl with their signature dishes and more experimental creations.

Obviously, Cyan doesn’t have the Michelin surrounds or indeed the Michelin prices normally associated with tasting menus but their £12 feasts must be a fun, culinary workout for the kitchen staff and a blast for the customers.

So far, the tasting menus have investigated themes such as French seasonal cooking, summer indfluences and Mediterranean flavours.
