Are your restaurant customers this pleased?

It’s an old topic but one worth revisiting: how do catering businesses make themselves more attractive to women?

Normally, the question is asked of publicans and the time tested solutions were to provide big open windows so that passers-by could see what the interior looked like and to offer a decent range of wines by the glass.

Hardly radical stuff but, two decades after places like The Pitcher and Piano chain started doing it, it’s amazing how many bars still can’t get even those basics right.

Caterer has a thought-provoking article on the subject here and many of the suggestions could be applied to restaurants just as easily as to bars.

Cleanliness, flexible menus, clear signage to the loos and even massages are among the ideas which the articles float.

So 5pm readers, what suggestions would you give to restaurant owners keen to see more women customers?
