A dining room with a view

Pie in the sky will take on a  whole new meaning this August as the Festival in the Sky dining table sets up in Princes Street Gardens.

An open air dining room suspended 50 metres above the ground, the 22 seat restaurant in the sky will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner thoughout the Edinburgh Festival.

The concept has already astounded diners everywhere from Las Vegas to South Africa via Newcastle and now it’s set to storm Edinburgh.

The dining room is reported as operating from 8am to 2am every day during August and prices start at £25 for the thirty minute ride.

Hanging high above central Edinburgh, diners will have a panoramic view of the city’s skyline, Fife and, of course, the fireworks at the Tattoo each night.

All of which have to be better than listening to a twenty-year old stand-up starting his routine with the line, ‘Have you noticed how women/referees/rabbits do that thing where . . . ‘

Naturally, the story has sparked some corking headlines. My favourite is The Herald’s which begins with ‘The steaks are high’
