I loved this story from the Huffington Post about a grocery chain in North Carolina which is promoting its steaks with not just a photo billboard of a succulent-looking steak but also by pumping out the mouth-watering scent of hot charcoal and black pepper.

The aroma doesn’t come from actual cooking meat but from synthetically created smells which are blown out from beneath the billboard.

I guess it’s a 21st century version of the siren call that all night bakeries often exert on people heading home after a late night.
