They think it's all over. It will be on Sunday.

After last night’s matches, we now know that on Sunday the winner of this year’s World Cup will either be Spain or the Netherlands.

For most blokes this is vitally important. For most women, it is probably slightly lower on the I-could-care-less list than having a discussion about vintage train sets.

Now, women could stay at home on Sunday night and watch the men shout at the telly but alternatively you could make tracks for the Rowan Tree bar in the Caves on Edinburgh’s Niddry Street South.

Once upon a time, it was known as Lucky Middlemass’ Tavern and was a boozing spot for everyone from Robert Burns to Adam Smith and Benjamin Franklin.

These days, it’s an atmospheric bar and events venue. This Sunday, it’s playing host to The Final Whistle.

Designed to appeal to the  partners of footie-obsessed blokes,The Final Whistle offers a night of cocktails, top tunes and cosmetics along with only the slightest whiff of football.

Guests will be greeted with a glass of fizz and canapés especially prepared by The Caves chefs. An Edinburgh Gin mixologist will be holding cocktail masterclasses throughout the night and BeneFit make-up artists and Aveda skin and hair specialists will be on hand to give mini-makeovers.

House of Fraser will be showcasing ranges their new ranges and a stylist will be on hand to give advice and tips to attendees. Goodie bags on the night will be provided courtesy of House of Fraser and a DJ will be on hand to spin the ladies’ favourite tunes all night.

Rumour has it that there will be a TV showing the match, just in case.

Tickets are £15 per person.  To buy, contact The Caves on 0131 557 8989
