Physical theatre is part of the Merchant City Festival. Possibly a scary part.

Yesterday’s round-up of festival food should have included this weekend’s Merchant City Festival in Glasgow but my plank tendencies surfaced so it didn’t.

Anyway, there is loads of great stuff going on in terms of music, street theatre, comedy and fashion but, as always, the blog is thinking about its stomach.

There are French, Italian and Scottish street markets taking place from today until Sunday and most of the bars and restaurants in the area are running special menus, cocktail deals or putting on bands and other entertainment.

There are a number of 5pm member restaurants listed as taking part here in the official programme but I’ll bet that pretty much every 5pm listed restaurant in the Merchant City will doing something to mark the event.

So, if you want to track down a restaurant offer then you know what to do. Head to the main site and pull down the Merchant City option on the Glasgow browse restaurants page.

The arresting if slightly alarming pic is of an American clown called Eric Davis. He goes by the performance name of Red Bastard and he’s at the Arches as part of the Surge festival which is also putting on street performers in the Merchant City over the weekend. Told you it all looked exciting.
