Fans of Eastern cuisine will be pleased to hear of two Glasgow restaurants that have recently joined the 5pm site – a very warm welcome to Bukharah and to Yen Oriental and Teppanyaki Restaurant!

Bukharah can be found in the Lorne Hotel on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow’s West End, and promises to deliver authentic and creative Indian dishes in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. Mahrukh Butt was Pakistani’s first female Head Chef and has overseen the restaurant’s menu with the aim of catering to everyone’s tastes.

Diners can also unwind in the restaurant’s cocktail bar for pre- or post-dinner drinks – we’re rather tempted by the sound of the signature Bilberry cocktail which includes fresh blackberries and cranberry juice (that could count towards your 5-a-day, right?).

Further into Glasgow’s West End, Yen Oriental and Teppanyaki Restaurant is located on Tunnel Street beside the SECC and is a popular choice with concert-goers as well as the locals with their variety of Japanese, Thai and Cantonese dishes.

It can be quite a lively and entertaining affair on the ground floor as the Teppanyaki chef cooks food fresh to order on the hot plate, while the Oriental part of the restaurant upstairs has a little more relaxed and airy atmosphere. As well as housing an extensive wine selection, Yen also offers a range of bottled and draft Oriental beers to choose from to accompany your meal.
