Haggis: now made by Welshmen in Paisley

The blog was amused, bemused and tickled by news of a bar in Paisley which claims to sell Welsh haggis.

The Station Lounge is a new place on Canal Street. The chef is a Welshman called Gary Lewis and he insists that he sells Welsh haggis pakora.

Although it sounds like an ideal canape for a United Nations event, Gary swears they are delish.

‘The house speciality is Welsh Haggis Pakora,’ he writes, ‘and they are not to be confused with its foreign counterpart.’

‘Its really good,’ he adds. ‘I know this because I’m the chef, I’m Welsh, and I make them.’

Gary also runs the Gel Cuisine restaurant in Renfrew which specialises in Cajun cooking.

The only reference we could find to Welsh haggis was this Wales Online story in which faggots and peas are referred to as Welsh Haggis.

Anyone else come across any counterfeit iconic dishes? Mongolian sushi, perhaps or Turkish Black Bun?
