The Glasgow Restaurateurs’ Association launches its Gourmet Glasgow promotion today.

A culinary festival involving over forty Glasgow restaurants, the festival runs until the end of the month.

Each restaurant is running a special menu, most of which are priced at £15, and they are designed to encourage people to try new restaurants.

Many of Glasgow’s 5pm members are taking part and you can see their deals by clicking on the today’s offers button on the 5pm restaurant browsing page.

One of the participating restaurants is Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery. Each Sunday afternoon during the festival, they are hosting an afternoon tea with a string quartet.

It’s a charity gig that aims to raise £10k to build a soft play area in East Park Home for severely disabled children. There is no set price for the tea. Customers are asked to donate what they think it was worth in an envelope.

Two Fats boss Ryan James will be discussing the idea while serving afternooon tea on the Fred Macaulay Show on Radio Scotland this morning.

While they are enjoying cake and scones in the Glasgow studio, your blogger will be enviously listening to the sounds of munching in the Edinburgh studio.

I’ve been invited in to discuss wildly expensive restaurants. The item is due to go out at 11.15am if you want to tune in.
