New restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh are sprouting up like like mushrooms at the moment.

As we told you a couple of weeks back, a new branch of the Tapa Spanish restaurant has been getting ready on Edinburgh’s Hanover Street and it opened this week.

It follows in the same flamenco steps as the Leith Tapa which has a whopping 4.4/5 rating from some 74 happy 5pm customers.

In Glasgow, the West End Ad Lib has become The Long Way Home. Their many different varieties of gin are a major feature of their bar operation but don’t overlook the burgers which are the mainstay of their menu.

You can see their 5pm menu online here.

In Aberdeen, the 99 Bar and Kitchen, which is part of the same group as Edinburgh’s Hawke and Hunter, has closed for a major refurb but expects to reopen with a bang on Saturday 28 August.

Also, look out for the re-opening of Glasgow’s Corinthian at the end of next week. They are testing the kitchen at the moment in a series of soft openings but the big official public launch is still a few days off.
