The great pre-festival opening rush is on in Edinburgh as restaurateurs, bar owners and cafes hurry to open before the Fringe crowds arrive.

The latest venture to join the throng is Divino Enoteca on Merchant Street.

The brainchild of Tony Crolla, owner of the Favorita restaurants, Divino opens this afternoon.

Modelled on a traditional Italian enoteca, Divino uses four state of the art wine dispensing machines. Designed to keep opened bottles of wine in peak condition, the technology will enable Divino to offer 65 wines by the glass.

Tony Crolla said: “This has been a dream of mine for a long time now and it’s fantastic to finally see it realised in Edinburgh .

“We at Divino Enoteca want to share our love and knowledge of wine with the people of Edinburgh and give them a chance to sample some of the world’s fine and rare vintages.”

Platters of cheese, marinated vegetables, salamis and cured meats top off the experience.
