'Hi, I'm Stuart Murdoch and I'll be your server today.'

I’m not sure how seriously we should take this but, according to an interview with NPR, Stuart Murdoch of Glasgow’s Belle and Sebastian is thinking of opening a taqueria in Glasgow.

He is quoted as saying, ‘I’ve had this idea for a while, to open a Belle & Sebastian taqueria. You’re laughing, but I’m about to get serious about this. Because this could be the thing that allows me to carry on doing music — to serve a decent taco.’

I would have thought a co-operative vegetarian diner might be more in keeping with B&S but what do I know?

Of course, Stuart Murdoch wouldn’t be the first musician to dangle their toes in the catering trade. Kenny Rogers founded the Roasters chain of chicken restaurants while Alice Cooper has a sports bar and grill in Phoenix, Arizona, which is advertised with the glorious slogan: Alice Cooperstown, where jocks and rock meet.

What sort of restaurant would you like a rock or pop star to open? In Edinburgh, there is the 5pm member The Hard Rock Cafe but, more specifically, what sort of place would Motorhead’s Lemmy open? Would it even serve food?

You could have a Jedward restaurant that specialised in double portions and, naturally, were Meatloaf to open up a diner then the house speciality would have to be his namesake.
