It’s all go in the Merchant City. Last week, we wrote about Metropolitain’s new look.

This week, we have more news about Boudoir, the wine bar which is opening in Merchant Square, next door to Metropolitain.

Opening on an as yet unspecified date later this month, Boudoir is the brainchild of Darren Scott who also manages Metropolitain. The new bar is the result of his European travels.

‘Boudoir is a French and Italian inspired wine bar, like the bustling back street wine bars that you come across in Rome, Paris, Nice or Verona,’ says Scott. ‘It’s the type of place where you stumble upon the organised chaos of a small, thriving bar where the staff know their customers by name and the service is of fine dining standard. That’s what Boudoir offers.’

Boudoir will sell over a hundred wines and will offer sixteen wines and four champagnes by the glass.

The wine list ranges from £14.95 through to £160 a bottle with sparkling wine ranging from £23.95 through to £260 a bottle. Although the emphasis is on wine, between 5-7pm Boudoir will offer free mixed anti pasti, comprising Milano salami, Parma ham, brie, tallegio, olives and breads.

Throughout the day, there will be a small food offering ranging from pastries in the morning to small continental plates in the evening.
