A couple of unknowns hoping to break into the big time at this weekend's Good Food Show

Assuming that you have a canoe, yacht or at least a pair of inflatable armbands then The BBC Good Food Show Scotland is probably the best place to be this weekend.

We blogged about it earlier here but the highlight of the show at Glasgow’s SECC is likely to be the appearance of Gregg Wallace and John Torode off that TV show.

What’s it called again? TopCook? Master something? Gordon’s Best Swear Word? Oh, you know the one I mean.

Sticking with Glasgow, the good people at the recently refurbed Grosvenor have been in touch to say that, after last night’s preview party, they are marking their relaunch with another invite party this evening.

You can put yourself on the guest list here.

Looking ahead to next weekend, Metropolitain, another Glasgow operation which has recently had a bit of a scrub-up, is holding a Halloween party on Sunday 31st.

The cocktails available will include a Green Goblin and a Pumpkin Punch, two concoctions which sound as though they might mean Monday morning gets off to a slow start.

We’re telling you about it a week in advance so that you have time to get your fancy dress prepared for Metropolitain’s fancy dress comp.

Over on the other side of the country, Edinburgh has gone noodle crazy. We told you earlier this year about the WaWa noodle bar where customers can slurp on noodles while surfing on one of the restaurants’ six iPads.

Well, WaWa have competition on the noodle front. The Hung Fu Noodle Bar opened recently on Waterloo Place. Handmade noodles and dumplings are prominent on the menu.
