Neal Roberston: the porridge king and his Golden Spurtle

Congratulations are due to Neal Robertson from Auchtermuchty’s Tannochbrae Tearoom. Roberston was annointed the World Porridge Making Champion 2010 at yesterday’s world porridge making championship in Carrbridge.

His victory means that the Golden Spurtle trophy has returned to Scotland after last year’s competition was won by an American.

Robertson attributed his success to two factors: he used water collected from the hills above Auchtermuchty and he mixed his porridge with a spon.

A spon, is a double backed spoon invented by Robertson and designed to get more air into the porridge mix.
