Last Friday, Friday we told you how Edinburgh was enjoying a surge of new noodle bars. In particular, we pointed out the Hongfu, which has just opened in the former Ark venue on Waterloo Place.

The blog can recommend their wok-fried chicken with kongpo chilli sauce and Szechuan pepper. Lots of dried red chillis and peanuts are the name of the game.

More spicy goodness is on the way.

According to The Scotsman, fans of South East Asian food can look forward to a branch of the Tokyou chain opening on the South Bridge in January. The company already has branches in Sheffield and Liverpool.
