The Silverwells is aiming high in its restaurant

Set in a B-listed Victorian property, The Silverwells is a chic new restaurant and grill which opened on Bothwell’s Old Mill Road at the weekend.

Run by the same people who have Da Luciano’s, The Silverwells restaurant has an upmarket, modern Scottish menu.

Think along the lines of Orkney seafood ravioli (£9) as a starter while the roast chicken supreme with Ayrshire smoked bacon, a potato and Savoy cabbage cake and and an Islay whisky sauce (£19.50) is typical of the main courses.

The all day grill is a less formal affair and serves everything from breakfast rolls to eggs Benedict via steaks and club sandwiches.

The Head Chef is Eddie Fagan who has joined The Silverwells from The Park Hotel. Previously, he has worked with Prue Leith, Albert Roux and Anthony Worral Thompson.

Look out for the main ceiling rose and the cornicing in the restaurant. Apparently, they are spectacular.
