A beautiful day in Tarbert

Just got a press release about a newish catering venture called Cafébarge.

A former Dutch barge which is moored at Loch Tarbert, Cafébarge opened for business earlier this year but has just relaunched (Boom! Boom!) with a new menu and a promise to stay open over the winter period.

Many of the restaurants, cafes and bars on the West Coast struggle to stay open after the main tourist season finishes but Cafébarge owner Michael Casey aims to welcome customers aboard throughout the coldest months.

Locally sourced seafood is at the heart of the menu. Think along the lines of seafood soup and chowder, fresh Tarbert scallops, haggis with organic chutney, whole Tarbert prawn tails and oysters from nearby West Loch.
