I have just come across this cracking wee story in the P&J. Apparently, Inverness is to have Scotland’s first Jamaican restaurant.

There was an Edinburgh restaurant called Caribbean Connection which ran on Grove Street for several years but this is the first Jamaican one I’ve heard of.

It’s called Cool Runnings after the real life film about the Jamaican bobsled team.

Jerk chicken, ackee and curried goat are all on the menu.

The owners have plans to open a Jamaican-style beach bar in the restaurant in 2011. The swaying plam trees and rum punch cocktails could make for a surreal sight in a wintry Inverness.
