Santini restaurant at the Sheraton

One trend to look out for in the New Year are foods which are said to have a positive effect on your wellbeing.

I’ve always found a stiff gin works best for me while I know of several people who swear by chocolate although I suspect that this isn’t what nutritionists had in mind.

The Sheraton in Edinburgh are launching a  ‘Feel Good’ Afternoon Tea to run in their Exchange Bar in January.

The ingredients used are designed to give a feel good factor even on the 24th of January; apparently the most depressing day of the year due to a gloomy combination of the weather, the end of the festive season and the arrival of the Christmas card credit bills .

Designed to put a smile on your fizzog even on such an inauspicious date, the ‘Feel Good’ spread includes no-bread savoury sandwich pots of scottish smoked salmon with beetroot and crème fraiche, roast sirloin of beef with watercress and spinach, curried turkey and roasted red pepper club, and chickpea, grilled vegetable and rocket.

Sweet treats include carob and hemp seed gluten-free cake, blueberry jelly, chocolate mousse tartlet, gluten-free pistachio and citrus sponge and plum and goji berry crème brulee. Freshly baked beetroot and cranberry and golden sultana and orange scones are served with fromage frais and a selection of preserves.

The cost is £19.95 a head.
