Just a quick link to a fun piece in the Evening News about a Scot who has relocated to Beijing, opened a Scottish bar and is introducing the locals to the delights of stovies.

According to the bar owner, there are some startling differences between the way his Chinese customers and ex-pat Scots perceive things.

The ex-pats nose a glass of Islay whisky and tend to say that it smells smoky or peaty. The Chinese take a sniff and declare that it smells like ‘South Korean barbeque’.
