Groovy, baby! One of the Mansion House's swinging bars

As many of Glasgow’s footballers know, Tiger Tiger closed on Hogmanay. But while Tiger Tiger may have roared for the last time, the Glassford Street venue is currently being rebuilt as the Mansion House.

Designed to be a one stop shop for your night’s entertainment, it sounds absolutely bonkers. Among the attractions are hula girls in grass skirts, Little Voice karaoke pods and, naturally, professional rollerskaters for the Seventies roller disco.

Essentially, the 2000 capacity Mansion House offers six different entertainment options plus The Glasserie, a restaurant serving dishes with a Scottish slant.

As well as a Jongleurs comedy club, Mansion House has several bars. One is a Tiki bar called Kanaloa which will have the aforementioned hula girls serving cocktails with evocative names such as the Dead Man’s Chest and Krakatoa.

Perhaps the most wacked-out of all the rooms will be the Groovy Wonderland. Harking back to a time when discos were discos rather than nightclubs, it will have a disco light dancefloor, roller girls and drinks served in carved out fruits. Far out.

It is scheduled to open in early March. We’ll bring you more details as we get them.
