Martin Wishart: soon to open his second restaurant in Edinburgh

Martin Wishart, the Leith-based restaurateur who started Edinburgh’s Michelin star avalanche, has announced that he is to open a second restaurant in the capital.

A brasserie-style operation, the as yet unnamed restaurant is scheduled to open in May.

The restaurant will be located in the North Castle Street premises which previously housed Tony’s Table.

Along with his restaurant at Cameron House and his cook school in Leith, it brings the number of Wishart-branded outlets to four.

That Wishart had been looking for new premises in the city centre had been an open secret in Edinburgh’s catering trade for a number of months.

His new venue should be perfectly placed to benefit from any bounce back in the financial sector with Charlotte Square and Lothian Road less than a five minute walk away.

While Wishart has made his reputation with his fine dining menus, the new venture is said to be more of a casual affair with starters at £5-£12 and main courses from £12.
