The courtyard at Glasgow's Hotel du Vin: setting for the garden party

If your invite to Kate and Wills’ wedding has still to arrive then perhaps you should face facts and accept that maybe you won’t be hobnobbing with the royals on Friday 29 April.

However, even if your invo does seem to have been lost in the post, Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens is putting on a posh afternoon tea which will be just like being at the reception.

In the hotel’s luxurious surroundings, guests can watch the royal wedding unfold on the big screen and can step out into the hotel’s terraced garden for a true taste of a royal garden party.

For such a regal affair, guests are encouraged to dress to impress. The men don’t have to wear morning suits but, should any of the ladies wish to dig out their wedding hats, then so much the better.

The boutique hotel will host a sumptuous traditional afternoon tea of delicious cakes, scones and sandwiches, with tea and coffee. And to toast the happy couple, champagne will be free flowing throughout the event to send them off in style.

Garry Sanderson, Hotel Manager, said: ‘There is so much buzz and excitement about the forthcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton. We just had to create a special event to celebrate in style and make our guests feel like royalty for the afternoon.  I hope the ladies will dust down their wedding hats for the occasion.’

The Royal event will be shown from 1-4pm on 29 April. Tickets for the Hotel du Vin Royal Tea cost £35 per person and includes traditional afternoon tea with champagne.
