The Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh is preparing for the final chapter in the lives of the Tamworth Two, the brace of pigs which they have been rearing on Peelham Farm in the Borders.

You may remember that last August we recounted how the hotel had bought two Tamworth piglets which were to be reared for the bistro at Hotel du Vin. Called Queenie and Prince Charming, rumour has it that they were named after a couple of of the hotel’s management team.

It’s the end of the road for Queenie and Prince Charming but they are getting a right royal send off this Friday evening with a winter bbq in the courtyard of HdV.

Head chef Matt Powell has prepped a range of porky delights for an all you can eat buffet which kicks off at 7pm. Cider, wine, heaters and blankets should help keep the chill off.

The cost is £30 a head.
