Josh Karpf is one of the musicians who will be making music for Maggie's Glasgow Centre on Monday

Right, enough royal wedding malarkey for today.

Looking forward to the bank holiday Monday, Maggie Mays on the Trongate is hosting a May Day music fest in aid of Who Gives a Fork, the campaign set up by the Glasgow Restaurant Association along with 5pm.

The aim of the campaign is to raise £100,000 for Maggie’s Glasgow Centre which provides a comprehensive support programme for people affected by cancer and their families .

Ten of Glasgow’s top up and coming bands and musicians will be rocking the mic from 3pm right through to 11pm in the basement bar.
From folk to punk via rock and pop to singer songwriters, the ten bands represent a smorgasbord of tasty tune-smithery. All the bands are listed below along with links to their music where I could find it (sorry Roughcut).
The Blackhand Gang, Someone’s Sons, Nick Rietz, Roughcut, Emelle, Good Bad News, Not Half Right, Paul Clement Trio, Norquay and Josh Karpf.
The event is not ticketed and there is no set entry price. Just pay what you can and all the proceeds will go to the charity. As an extra inducement, cans of Red Stripe, vodka mix and Sourz shooterz will all be £2 a pop during the event.
It looks like being a cracking day so get down if you can.
The Maggie May music bash is just one of several top events which Who Gives a Fork is running over the next few months. You can look ahead to what’s up next here.
