The ‘Who Gives A Fork’ campaign has been set up by the Glasgow Restaurant Association and Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres. Throughout the course of 2011, participating GRA restaurants aim to raise over £100,000 for Maggie’s Glasgow Centre.

The Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, Glasgow, provides a comprehensive support programme for people and their families affected by cancer.

These events promise a great day out, and it’s for a terrific cause. It’s a win-win situation!

We’re not considered a nation of curry lovers for nothing, so for those who like a bit of spice in their food and to party the night away, then look no further than Curryoke Club‘s Comedy Night on Friday the 13th of May.

Your £25 ticket includes a glass of bubbly, appetisers, starters, a main course and dessert, followed by a fun-filled evening of comedy from Glaswegian Susan Morrison, followed by disco and karaoke entertainment until 1am. With this package a night of laughter, singing and dancing is guaranteed to make it an outing to remember. Release your inner pop star – just please don’t let any of your mates get up and try to sing Kate Bush (unless you’re sure they can pull it off).

If, however, you’re more of a ‘watcher’ than a ‘doer’ when it comes to musical performances, then mosey along to Maggie Mays on Monday the 2nd of May between 3pm and 11pm and check out some of the 10 live bands that will be playing (you read that right, gig-goers – it’s pretty much an all day thing!).

The event will be held in the Basement Bar of Maggie Mays, and tickets aren’t required as guests simply have to make a donation for the Maggie’s Charity at the door to gain admission. It’s the May Day Bank Holiday as well, so definitely worth checking out!

Next up, Blind Pig in the West End is offering some 1920’s glamour and indulgence at their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in their Intoxicating Tearooms on Tuesday the 10th of May, with an evening of cocktails, cupcakes and mixology (very fancy!).

The restaurant’s head ‘Cocktail Guru’ Scott Stevens will be hosting the interactive cocktail masterclass so you can learn to mix together your very own yummy concoctions to sip from your china tea cups. At £20 a ticket, it’s truly a must for refined lads and elegant lasses – or anyone who fancies having their cocktails served in a vintage teapot.

And continuing the theme of harking back to decades past, The Butchershop is holding a ‘Mad Men for Maggie’s‘ Event on Sunday the 15th of May, offering a Madison Avenue inspired 3 course menu, cocktail and entertainment.

Think of that 1960s New York style – pencil skirts, hats and sharp tailored suits – and enjoy Maker’s Mark Manhattan cocktails, and Harlem Funk and Soul by Marco Cafolla Electric Trio. To experience a night January Jones and Don Draper style, tickets are £35 per person – well worth it for a stylish night with a difference!
