Samphire: could be a posh part of your five a day

The blog has been banging on about the increasing trendiness of marine-based veggies for much of the year and, according to a recent PR from Waitrose, their profile is set to rise even further.

The upmarket supermarket has announced that it is to start selling samphire, sea aster and a plant called Okahijiki which, as you may have guessed, has Japanese origins.

Say what you like about the supermarkets but they are seldom slow to spot an opportunity.
