Sascha Grierson getting busy in her farmhouse kitchen

The blog has blethered a lot about Neil Forbes, head chef of Cafe St Honoré and the winner of the Chef of the Year gong at the recent Scottish Restaurant Awards.

Neil, in association with Slow Food Perth and Edinburgh, will be hosting a visit to Newmiln Farm in Perthshire on Saturday 4 June.

Farmers Sascha and Hugh Grierson are well known for their organic products which feature in many of Scotland’s top nosheries including Cafe St Honoré.

Starting at 11am, the farm walk will take in the diverse range of produce at Newmiln, followed by a butchery and cookery demonstration given by Neil. He will discuss the more interesting cuts of lamb and mutton and share his ideas for interesting dishes with a range of produce from the farm.

Visitors will then be served a one course farmhouse summer lunch cooked by Sascha followed by coffee, tea and tablet. As usual, a glass of wine is included.

Places cost £18 and they are limited. Book via Newmiln Farm, on 01738 730201, or email enquiries@hughgrierson.co.uk

You can watch Neil talking about Scotland’s natural larder and cooking with it here.
