Motorhead's Lemmy ponders whether to have the blueberry creme souffle or the Jack D and twenty Bensons

Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m behind the times but have you seen this cracking Guardian piece in which Wendy Fonarow, their indie professor, draws some fairly convincing parallels between the culty, often exclusive world of indie rock and that of the new food obsessives?

Fonarow’s central argument is that for foodies, the more artisanal a food is the better it will be. Unsullied by The Man, grown by DIY enthusiasts, unadulterated, it’s the same set of values espoused by indie rock anoraks.

Of course, Alex James from Blur has spent the last few years telling anyone who will listen that cheese is in fact the new rock ‘n’ roll.

The paper has followed up with a more recent article looking at musician’s food blogs. Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand was among the pioneers with his accounts of rock tour dining. Steve Albini and Edwin Congreave of Foals have joined the pack.
