NYC’s subway is famous for many things but, until recently, fine dining wasn’t one of them.

That reputation could change if a recent event on the city’s L Train could be anything to go by.

On May 1, a group of diners on board the L train were treated to a six course gourmet meal on tables suspended by string from the ceiling.

Chefs/waiters/actors cleared the tables and brought on a fresh course at each stop.

Half performance art, half Situationist prank, the menu included fillet steak with mash and pickled asparagus tips and chocolate panna cotta with gold flakes.

The stunt/meal/show was put on by a group called A Razor A Shiny Knife.

There is a YouTube clip here.

Any suggestions for the menu if someone pulled a similar trick on Glasgow’s subway? Irn Bru sorbet would have to be in there somewhere.
