The Ballantrae Albany Hotel on Edinburgh’s Albany Street has just relaunched its bar and restaurant.

A few years back, the restaurant operated as Haldanes. Now it’s called Signature. As part of the relaunch, the hotel has opened up the gardens to the rear of the property to make  a beer garden and a BQQ patio.

The plan is to try and push the bar side of the business and pull in drinkers from nearby Broughton Street.

Typical dishes on the new menu include starters such as smoked salmon with quail egg; chicken skewers with a sweet chilli sauce and antipasto platters.

As well as the house burger, main course choices include braised pork belly stuffed with black pudding; duck breast with a ginger, plum and red wine sauce and a beef and ale pie.
