Ah, karaoke. Your blogger once managed a rocking version of Tone Loc’s Funky Cold Medina at 3am on a friend’s Playstation.

Naturally, at the time, I sounded like I was kicking it old school style and rhyming like a pro.

The next morning, a previously unsuspected playback recording revealed the degrading truth.

While I have hung up my mic and folded away my MC Hammer pants, other, braver souls continue to carry the karaoke torch.

At Glasgow’s Mansion House, they have just launched a couple of mid-week karaoke promotions for their Lucky voice song pods.

Every Thursday night, Mansion House is offering two hours free singing for people whose jobs make the world a better place through its Worthy Workers promotion.

Open to doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, fire fighters, charity workers and police officers, Mansion House is recognising anyone who dedicates their lives to public service and the greater good.

As well as Worthy Workers, Mansion House is also opening its doors to its neighbours in postcodes G1, G2 or G3, on a Wednesday night, offering them a two hour free singing session in Lucky Voice.

All each party need to bring is a form of ID that identifies them as living in the postcode area or that proves their occupation and they can sing their heart out for free in one of the venue’s state of the art pods.

Naturally, if you want to fortify yourself for your performance then the venue’s Glasserie brasserie can provide. Menus and 5pm deals are here.

A couple of weeks back, we ran a Chewin’ the Fat piece with the head chef Garry Rae. You can read it here
